The extendable compaction roller (VDWU) from Kemp is developed for compacting silage. Thanks to the extendable design, the working width can be adjusted to the desired width. The compaction roller is standard equipped with three-point hitch (CAT.2).
Advantages
Construction
The extendable compaction roller (VDWU) is built from a heavy and robust construction with multiple curved rings, enabling the effective compaction of silage grass and maize for better preservation and reduced heating.
The compaction roller is equipped with curved rings with a diameter of approximately Ø 900 mm. The shape of these rings creates a high peak load on the silage, causing the rings to keep spinning while driving, ensuring good compaction.
The compaction roller features an extendable design, where the middle section remains fixed and the two outer sections can be hydraulically extended outward. The working width is 2,500 mm when retracted and 4,100 mm when extended.
Extending the roller is done via sliding sleeves that glide within plastic guides. This eliminates the need for lubrication and keeps the construction low-maintenance during use.
The weight of the VDWU is approximately 1,980 kg.
For additional compaction, it is possible to fill the roller with water or sand up to 500 liters. Additionally, optional weight blocks can be installed to further increase the pressure on the silage.
See the specifications section for the options.
The VDWU can be expanded with weight blocks on the sliding section, which increase the load on the roller for improved compaction.
