The rigid compaction roller (VDW) from Kemp has been developed for the compaction of grass and maize silage. Due to the fixed working width, the roller is simple and without hydraulic hoses. The compaction roller is standard equipped with CAT 2 coupling.
Advantages
Construction
The rigid compaction roller (VDW) is built with a heavy and robust construction featuring multiple curved rings, allowing silage and corn to be effectively compacted for better preservation and reduced heating.
The compaction roller is equipped with large curved rings with a diameter of approximately Ø 1,020 mm. The shape of these rings creates high peak pressure on the silage, ensuring the rings keep rotating while driving and achieving good compaction.
For additional compaction, it is possible to fill the roller with water or sand. This increases the weight of the roller and results in even better compaction of the silage.
Execution
The rigid compaction roller (VDW) is available in multiple working widths.
The compaction roller is standardly equipped with a three-point hitch (CAT. 2).
See the specifications section for more information and options.
The VDW is available in different types. The following table shows the differences per type.
| Types | Width | Refillable | Weight |
| VDW1200 | 1,200 mm | 380 L | 780 kg |
| VDW1600 | 1,600 mm | 530 L | 930 kg |
| VDW2000 | 2,000 mm | 680 L | 1,140 kg |
| VDW2400 | 2,400 mm | 840 L | 1,330 kg |
| VDW2800 | 2,800 mm | 1,000 L | 1,580 kg |
Additionally, the various types can be expanded with an option.
| Option | Description | Suitable for types |
| VDWSS | Side shift |
|
Explanation of option:
VDWSS: the compaction roller can optionally be equipped with a side shift, where the roller can be shifted approximately 500 mm to the left and 500 mm to the right.
The sliding tubes move in plastic guides, making the construction low-maintenance and durable. Additionally, the sides are equipped with plastic guide rollers to prevent damage to the silage wall and the roller.
The weight of the side shift is approximately 170 kg.
